Maisey and her sister at five weeks of age were dropped off at the SPCA in summer 2013 and were adopted together a month later. We always hope our adoptions are furr-ever, but 2 ½ years later both cats were brought back to the SPCA. We were told that right from the start at ten weeks old, the kittens showed signs of being feral and were unfriendly and not social, were not affectionate, could not be in the same room with each other otherwise a fight would ensue, were spraying and marking around the house and would not use the litter box!
When we took the cats back in, they seemed very timid and frightened, but once settled in their enclosure – together – we found absolutely NO evidence of any of the family’s complaints.
Both cats seemed very unsure of how to accept petting and cuddling, but in less than a week, they became more and more and loving. It appeared that they didn’t even know how to play. It took no time at all for them to feel comfortable with the 20 other cats in the SPCA, and were adjusting marvellously. They began to interact with the other cats and the volunteers almost immediately, and had no trouble settling in.
Maisey is one to seek out companionship and company. She loves to be petted and is very affectionate. We often see her stretched out in a window sunning herself.
We know she is happy and contented especially when she is chasing her tail! She has a unique “apricot” color and beautiful golden eyes.
