A young couple were out walking their dogs on December 11, 2015 just over 10 kilometers up the Adanac Road and on a secluded trail through the trees. The dogs were ahead a ways when all of a sudden the couple saw a very small black animal run across the trail. It startled them and they wondered what it was – a little thing going so fast. They thought the tracks looked like those of a small cat.
The woman called “Here kitty kitty” and to her amazement a little black kitten came running out of the trees as fast as his little legs would carry him, and ran right up her snow pants and into her arms. Leaving her husband with the dogs, she ran back to their truck with the kitten.
Having recently adopted a cat from the SPCA, she was sure we would take this little one in. He was only about 4 months old, very thin, very frightened and in distress but otherwise in pretty good health.
Tucker became the “cutie” of the SPCA – at the time being the youngest of all the residents.
As he gets older we are seeing characteristics of possibly a “Siamese connection” in his genes – large ears, long straight tail and a fine-boned build. He is very precocious, curious, and has cultivated a definite independence. All black with bright yellow eyes, he is a handsome young man.
Tucker will be a great companion after learning at a very early age the value of having someone to love and protect him. A lesson he shouldn’t have had to learn so harshly.
