Gracie was dropped off in the parking lot of the Blaimore Kanata Inn on December 30, 2023.  Gracie has infection in both ears and we have determined she has a food allergy that we are working on.  Gracie will not be ready for adoption for quite some time.  She is starting to show some small improvement but it will definitely be a very slow process for her.  Such a lovely little lady to have been treated so badly.

The CNP SPCA already has a "Molly" but this little girl is much tinier, therefore, "Little Molly" :)

Molly is currently under quarantine and is scheduled to be spayed early February, 2024.  Following her recovery, she will be posted as ready for adoption.  Little Molly is well socialized and very sweet and affectionate.  Keep checking for Little Molly's debut.

This little gentleman has the most soothing (and loud) purr and is so full of love and affection!  He has just arrived at the CNP SPCA and will be under quarantine for a while yet.

Keep an eye on this little fella and we will post when he is ready for adoption.

As noted in RG's post (RB's sister), they came to the CNP SPCA with many health issues that needed to be addressed before they were put up for adoption.  A nasty introduction to a porcupine was the major concern for both of them.  Many recurring abscesses and infections were dealt with over the past couple of months but now we are reasonably confident that we have their health under control.

RB is an energetic and boisterous little boy!  Full of fun and mischief.  He has been dubbed "Chaos" by the many people who walk past the SPCA visiting with him.  RB is not an aggressive dog but he is definitely full of life!!  Both he and his sister seem to get along with other dogs (we don't know about cats).

RB has an endearing disposition and seems willing to please.  You can tell he is trying his best to be a good companion.  He is shy on first meeting with a new person but within a very short time he will be trying to get into your lap and give you as many kisses he can!!  Anyone considering adopting RB will have to be firm and consistent in his training but with perseverance we are sure you will have a lovable and affectionate companion.

RG and her brother came to the CNP SPCA suffering from results of an introduction to a porcupine as well as with a few other health concerns.  To date, we have been addressing these issues (quills causing recurring abscesses and infections mostly) and now finally feel reasonably comfortable they are in the clear and ready for adoption.

With a quiet sweet personality, RG is just looking for love and affection and returns any she receives ten-fold.  Unfortunately, RG had so many quills in her left leg, for so long, that her muscles atrophied.  With patience and a regime of mild exercise, we have been advised by our Vet Clinic she should recover most if not all the strength in that leg.  Anyone considering adopting RG will have to take it slow in helping her recover though.  Short controlled walks, no rough play or running/jumping for quite a while.

Chewie was found in a pet carrier next to a dumpster behind an apartment building in Blairmore.  Someone moved out and just left her with some “other household odds and ends” they didn't want!!

She is very affectionate and appreciates a lot of love and attention.  With a very calm and quiet personality she didn’t have any problem fitting in with all the other cats and volunteers in the shelter.

This beautiful little girl would make someone a purr-fect couch companion.

Birdie, at about 9 months old,  was found abandoned in a horse pasture by our Golf course.  It was winter, she was cold and scared, but realized that this nice lady looking after her horses was there to help.  Birdie was brought into the CNP SPCA.

If you are a golfer, you appreciate "birdies" on your score card and if you are a pet lover, you will definitely appreciate this little "Birdie" who will  score with you should you want to meet her.  She is loving and affectionate.  Sometimes she takes you by surprise while you are petting her and she will grab your hand or arm with her front paws - no claws - just to keep you close and continue petting her.

She is quiet and sweet - unassuming, but so full of love to give anyone who pays her the least bit of attention.  Our Birdie is the best and would complete any home looking for a furr-ever cuddly companion!

Pippen and her brother Elrond were born at the CNP SPCA.  Abbi, their mother, graced us with a litter of 5 kittens just a few days after arriving at our facility (3 of the 5 have already been adopted).   Pippen seems to know her own mind and has more confidence than her brother Elrond.   They are quite independent of each other and would do well being adopted together or on their own.  Their personalities are quite opposite - Pippen enjoying a more active home while Elrond would prefer something a little quieter.  They are both playful and enjoy a fast game of chase with each other or with the other cats in the facility.  Once you get to know them, you can't help but love them - they are just little sweethearts each in their own way - always happy with a ready purr to share with you.

Born at the CNP SPCA, along with 4 siblings, Elrond, unlike his sister Pippen is a little on the shy side.  They are quite independent of each other but you often see them engaging in an exuberant game of chase and play being as they are of an age that supports a definite equal level of energy!  Elrond could be adopted on his own or with his sister.  They do get along but are not a bonded pair.  Their personalities are quite opposite with Elrond likely to prefer a quieter home versus Pippen who seems to enjoy a little more attention and action.  Elrond, with his loveable little face will capture your heart and once you get to know him, you can't help but fall in love with this little gentleman.  He is always ready to share his little purr with you in appreciation of the attention you give.

Abbi was abandoned as a result of her owner doing the "midnight move". He skipped out on the rent and left Abbi outside on her own at the tender age of just over 6 months. On arriving at the CNP SPCA eight weeks later, we found Abbi to be close to having kittens. Four days after arriving she presented us with five healthy babies.

Despite such a rough start to life, Abbi has shown that she has not been jaded by her experience. She has settled in and is comfortable in her new surroundings and with people. She looks forward to any attention from the volunteers and visitors but really has no tolerance with the other cats in the shelter. Abbi is a beautiful little girl with a lovely soft personality. We are confident that she will be a loveable companion for anyone willing to take her into your heart and your home.  Abbi would do best as the only cat in the home.

Marble came to us because his owner had passed away and the family was not able to care for him and his roommates, Ebony and Twilight. Fortunately Twilight has already been adopted. Marble is currently the oldest feline at our facility, at over ten years old.

Marble is a grand old sole, a big friendly orange tabby looking for some much needed attention and loving. The thing with Marble is that he has a bit of a short attention span. He loves petting and attention and will follow you around all day long monitoring your duties and what is happening, but he has a limit and lets you know when he has had enough for loving for now.

His purr is resounding, his appreciation for attention is obvious but his does have his limits. Understanding this personality quirk is essential to understanding the little gentleman himself. We love him and he loves us, but we have to abide by his limitations. He is basically a happy older gentleman who just wants a home of his own.

Ebony came to the SPCA with her house-mates Marble and Twilight. Their owner had passed away and the family were not in a position to keep these three beauties. Ebony is a striking young lady with her shinny black coat and unique emerald green eyes. She has an easy going gentle personality and generally gets along with the other cats in the building.

No easy feat some days when the younger "kids" can be so energetic and pesty! Ebony loves to be brushed and is happy just hanging out with you quietly musing about the day's events, but don't let her fool you, she has a very playful side to her and will surprise you with some of her off the cuff antics.

"Good Golly Miss Molly!" Sweet, affectionate, loveable, playful and so much more. Molly is a unique feline with a beautiful coat of many colors, with stripes and spots and eyes with depth, wisdom and love. With her time spent here at the CNP SPCA we found that although Molly got along with pretty much every other cat in the facility, she still enjoys her own space at the end of the day.

Molly would do well in a home with adults and few other pets if any. She is quick to come when her name is called and loves exclusive attention. You would have a friend indeed if you were to take Molly into your home and your heart. One special cat to meet should you chance a visit to the CNP SPCA.

We took her in as she had been abandoned by her owner and left outside to fend for herself. We named her "Sweetie Pie" for two reasons. One reason was that she was actually a real sweetie pie- loving, affectionate, attentive and giving back all that she got- but- then the other side of her would come out. Sweetie Pie does not like other cats or anything else that invades her center of attention of any human! Her whole character centers on the premise that " I am special and I am the only only cat in the building deserving of attention!!" We had thought that by calling her Sweetie Pie that the name in itself would wend its way into her personality and make her a friendlier feline. Not so to our dismay. Sweetie Pie is still the little sweetie of the facility but being a tortie, she is still seeking her soul mate or mates and her very own family. She is a loving cat, very affectionate and really... a Sweetie Pie! Anyone taking her into their heart and home would have an endearing, loving, affectionate lap companion that would be unmatched! If you have no other pets, this is definitely the one for  you. Our little Sweetie Pie

Pekoe arrived with his mother, Bella and two siblings early May 2021. The family was the product of another senseless and irresponsible pet owner callously dumping their cats on an acreage. Pekoe is on the shy side with little confidence and hesitates to initiate attention but once you start petting him and talking to him, he relaxes and quite enjoys himself. Pekoe would do well in a quiet home with no other pets or children. He is not a large cat and will likely remain fine boned and dainty. When Pekoe looks at you, his wide sad eyes almost break your heart. He deserves a warm lap, lots of love all his own and a pair of strong comforting arms to wrap around him and show him how special he really is.

It was a warm, sunny afternoon on July 14, 2017 when one of our volunteers was just leaving and noticed a very large box just inside the front door. There were 4 kittens inside, only about 7 weeks old but in good shape and had obviously been handled by people.

Stevie was quite cautious and a little on the shy side. He seemed to be a tad bit larger than the other kittens and that became more evident as time went by. He grew and grew and grew! All of a sudden he was at least twice as big as all the others, but still remains “the gentle giant”. He continues to linger on the very shy side. It may take a little patience in getting to know him and to have him trust you. He would do well in a home of his own with no other pets to distract him. If you can catch him snoozing and pet him, he will purr to show his contentment and appreciation but has not yet the confidence to initiate interaction with anyone. Although not overly social, in his own home we believe he would come out of his shell.

Cute as a button with such little black spots on his nose Stevie will steal your heart.  You will find he is a man of few words but his eyes say it all.

December 8, 2016 our volunteers found a box had been pushed through the door. Inside we found 2 small kittens, no more than 6 months old. These little kittens were definitely very scared, not particularly friendly and it was obvious neither of them wanted anything to do with people!

Quinn is a handsome young man even though a little cross-eyed. For the first few months he was so terrified of us and his new surroundings that he would run for his life if anyone even looked his way. Little by little Quinn has been “relaxing” and being somewhat more social. Over the past year he will often let you pet him and has recently been “talking” either to himself as he plays or to the other cats – something he had never done before.

Quinn would do very well in a quiet home as the only pet, or perhaps with one other cat of similar age. It is obvious that Quinn is looking for love and affection but is just not altogether comfortable in showing it or asking for it right now.

He is a quirky little man with odd shaped cross eyes and the tiniest little hesitant voice. You can’t help but fall in love with him. He deserves a very special place in your heart!!

Once again, that awful story surfaces – callous, irresponsible, uncaring people dropping off a pregnant female cat on an acreage, cowardly and not taking responsibility for their actions, hoping someone else will take care of the problem! Momma cat gave birth to her kittens; all but four found homes. The CNP SPCA took in those remaining four kittens on November 7, 2019.

It didn’t take Puffin long to warm up to the fact that she was safe, protected and needn’t be afraid of all the new people she was meeting. Puffin has an unassuming personality it seems. She is the “kid” that stands back while others get attention. She would rather not initiate a lot of attention, but is always around the perimeter waiting to be noticed.

When she is noticed, she is receptive and comfortable with any attention she gets. When you do notice her, she reciprocates in triplicate! Her purr is resounding, her affection unlimited, and her appreciation and gratitude unmistakable!

Puffin would do best in a home on her own to boost confidence in herself. She is not shy per se, but she does have a quiet side to her personality. The more we love her and show her attention, the more she responds. All she needs is some time to realize that she is special and can be the centre of someone’s love and affection.

November 7, 2019 was an all too familiar and sad scenario at the CNP SPCA. A pregnant female cat had been dropped off at an acreage by irresponsible and uncaring people leaving the acreage family to take on the commitment to this helpless animal. The family opted to keep the mother cat and one of the kittens, but needed to find homes for the rest of the litter. They managed to find homes for two more, and the CNP SPCA chose to take in the last four.

It was evident that Oreo was the curious one. She was usually the first to explore a corner, play with a new toy or find a new perch in the window.

Her cautious nature has all but disappeared now, and she can often be found seeking out attention and affection. She is totally comfortable in jumping up into your lap for some cuddles or just hanging out with you while you are working.

Oreo plays well with other cats in the facility and generally gets along with everyone. She is happy and playful, often initiating a game of tag with one of the other cats. Laps are a favorite napping place if you are able to sit for a while and her purring is automatic!!

It is an old and sad but familiar tale we hear all too often at the CNP SPCA. Acreages and farms are dumping grounds for unwanted, unaltered cats and dogs. This was also the scenario surrounding Neko’s family.

The family opted to keep the mother cat and the smallest kitten of the litter. Two more found a home with a neighbor, but that left four needing somewhere to go. We took them in November 7, 2019.

At only 11 weeks old, Neko, the only male, had us at the first “meow”!! Precocious, playful, needy, loving, affectionate, funny, adorable – he was all of these things and more! He also has the most outgoing personality and seems to love everyone who walks through the door! Always happy and on the go, Neko is constantly helping you with whatever you are doing at the time. He just wants to be with you no matter what.

His little tuxedo markings are “purrfect” with his little black nose, white muzzle, white bib and matching white boots. He is quite content to be the centre of attention and basking in any adoration you can offer. If you sit down, Neko will be on your lap immediately, purring and making himself at home.

You can’t help but fall in love with this happy little man!

On December 8, 2016 our volunteers were getting ready to leave for the day and found a box had been pushed quietly through the door without our knowing. Inside we found two very small kittens no more than 6 months old, cowering in the corner.

Jansci is a beautiful girl who belongs on a Hallmark card for sure. Despite our best efforts, patience and compassion towards her she is very slow to respond.

She spends all day alone and we rarely see her out and about. She will hiss at you should you reach out to pet her and is absolutely petrified when you pick her up. If only she could tell us where this fear comes from and what is wrong. But she cannot, she is trapped in her own world of terror and just wants to be left alone.

If you find it in your heart to want to help Jansci we applaud you. She will need so much love, patience and kindness to help her out.

We are hoping that should she find a home of her own, a quiet place with no other pets or children, she will begin to enjoy life and feel the contentment and comfort she deserves. We will never know what tragedy befell this beautiful creature or what terror has remained in her heart and mind to this day.

In September 2013 the local Community Peace Officer and a compassionate local citizen collaborated in order to try to trap and save some eight-week old kittens. The litter of kittens was headed for disaster as the cold weather approached.

We could tell immediately that it would be a challenge to help Hobbs dispel his deep-rooted fear of humans. but we never give up on an animal and vowed not to now.

It took a couple of years just for Hobbs to feel safe enough to venture out to mingle for short periods within the SPCA. When he did, he seemed to enjoy a very little bit of petting and attention.

To date due to his quiet and shy demeanor, Hobbs has been passed by for adoption. Hobbs will do best in a quiet home with no other pets. This will allow him to get to know his new family with no distractions and realize that “living” needn’t be terrifying – that he is safe and respected. He will purr sometimes but sadly we have NEVER heard his voice! Contrary to the old saying, “man of few words” Hobbs is a little man of “NO words” (at least not yet!).

It is unlikely Hobbs will ever be a cuddly companion but he does have a special way of looking at you and perhaps curling up next to you to show his affection.

When you hold him, he likes to be as close as possible to you and often will push his head into the crook of your neck. That’s when you may hear his faint purr of contentedness.

Fergie is striking with her beautiful golden eyes and black and white coat. The little freckle on her cheek puts a smile on your face every time you look at her. Fergie loves attention and affection.  Her purr is resounding as soon as you call her name or look in her direction. You can’t help but want to scoop her up and cuddle her, and she has no problem at all with that!!!

Fergie is a sweet, affectionate little girl who would give the world for a loving family of her own.  Her heart is bigger than she is and she has so much love to give!
